Introduction
Background
During the pandemic, there was a significant increase in the number of U.S. adults who reported symptoms of anxiety, depression, and insomnia during the pandemic. My team and I decided to investigate this issue and design a new portal feature to help users utilize mental health information on our web portal easily and efficiently.

Understanding the problem
Discovery
To understand the problem, I decided to conduct discovery research. I successfully recruited subject matter experts and interviewed participants for contextual inquiries and user interviews, which helped the team identify MVP design points and later analyze the usability of our design prototype in the evaluation stage.
Contextual inquiries
Interviews with subject matter experts and clinical consultants helped us gather information on:
- How mental health is defined at our company
- How our clients are utilizing our mental health resources - What type of data do users use the most/least
User Interviews
Users expressed that they did not know what kind of mental health resources were available for mental health and wanted to access a quick overview of their consolidated mental health care status.
Defining the MVP
After conducting user interviews and additional competitor product analysis to gather user needs, pain points, and preferences, we created an initial wireframe for the design concept. My discovery research was able to streamline the overall vision for the product.

Usability Testing
I tested the initial wireframe through A/B testing, where we compared different visual data graphics such as the "brain graphic" that showed the fluctuations on trend and also tested the overall intuitiveness of the entire page.

Research showed that users did not find the data storytelling intuitive because they did not understand how the data in sections connected to each other and preferred to view data in data visuals like a typical bar chart instead of an interactive brain illustration. Some SMEs also expressed that they would not utilize this page because it is too simple, and they require much complex data to execute their tasks.

Final Prototype

Impact
Overall, this page is a one-stop shop interface that helps consolidate data by providing users with a comprehensive overview of mental health information in a single location, eliminating the need to navigate multiple details pages. This page enables users to quickly scan and compare data points, reducing excessive clicking and navigation time.
Next Steps
In order to make sure that the tool is user-friendly, setting up an NPS survey at the bottom of the page would help examine the efficiency and usability of the page.
